So basically, it's pretty straight forward but there was lots and lots of stuff to fill out.. great!!
Anyway, I went on the US Embassy website and then selected the area I'm from - Europe and then United Kingdom: London. It took me directly to the London US Embassy site. I then had to select the "non-immigrant" visa and fill out the DS-160 form that is required for all J1 Exchange Visitor Visas, which mine is.
Now as would be expected when you apply for things like these there are the usual boring stuff you have to fill out, name, date of birth, address, stuff like that. And then as it's a visa I had to fill in my passport details and if I've traveled to the US before. But what you might not expect is a load of totally random and strange security questions!! I know they have to do it for obvious reasons, but really, who is going to click 'Yes' to "are you or have you ever been involved in acts of terrorism" or "are you or have you ever been involved in genocide" like really? come on america😂 oh dear!
But apart from that everything was pretty straight forward, although it took forever to fill in, and in 4 weeks I have an appointment at the US Embassy in London to get my visa! How exciting!! Now only 9 weeks til I fly!!😄✈️🇺🇸
Another thing that you may know if you have me on twitter/Facebook is that my host family are taking me to see Michael Bublé in my first week there. He is playing at the US Bank Arena on July 29th, and my family wanted to buy me a ticket as a going away present, so I emailed Nancy asking if I could have that evening off (just to be polite and considerate😉) and she said that her & Andy were planning on going anyway so they could get me a ticket with them!!!! I am RIDICULOUSLY excited, I LOVE Michael Bublé so I can't wait!! Exciting times right now!!😄😄
